The Porch can serve as a venue for many different events! Historic Saranac Lake is not responsible for event planning or programing for organizations renting the Cure Porch on Wheels. Keep the following specifications in mind while planning your event on the Cure Porch on Wheels:
- Interior floor space: 7' 4" x 13' 5”; Exterior Dimension: 8' 6"W x 16' 3"L x 12' 4”H.
- 2 entrances: Side door with fold-down stairs; DOT Public Use compliant wheelchair lift
- 2 interior 120 volt outlets;
- 1 ceiling light
- The Porch is fitted with an antique cure chair and desk.

The wheelchair lift, ceiling light, outlets, and Story Phone all run off solar power. The system can also charge devices. If you are anticipating a large power draw (i.e. running a sound or lighting system, many repeated uses of the wheelchair lift, etc.) you will need to use the external power input. The Porch can draw power from a standard outlet with the included 25’ power chord and adapter. HSL does not supply extension chords.
Towing The Porch
Towing the Cure Porch on Wheels: Towing is solely the responsibility of the renter. The Cure Porch on Wheels trailer is rated to carry up to 10,000 lb, and has a 2 5/16” trailer ball. Please plan on paying a towing company to move the Porch. A usual standard rate is $90/hour, and so using the porch in a 20 mile radius will likely cost about $200 for towing. Privately owned vehicles are unlikely to meet our insurance requirements. Please double check the auto insurance requirements on the Porch Rental Policy, and make arrangements for towing well in advance. We must have proof of insurance on file before the Porch is used.
Porch Fees
Historic Saranac Lake charges a rental fee in order to support ongoing maintenance of the porch. The fee entitles the user to make use of the Cure Porch on Wheels for a twelve hour period. If picked up for use at 8:00 AM, the porch must be returned by 8:00 PM the same day.
- Non-profit use — $100
- For-profit use — $150
- Space to be left clean or clean-up fee charged — $25
