Historic saranac Lake applies for 2019 oUr town Grant to fund Cure Porch on Wheels
Historic Saranac Lake, in partnership with the Village of Saranac Lake, has applied for an Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to fund 2019 programing for the Cure Porch on Wheels. The Cure Porch on Wheels has been made possible, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts which awarded Historic Saranac Lake an ArtWorks grant for design and implementation 2017. This design phase is the first part of a two-year plan to develop the Cure Porch on Wheels. The grant has enabled us to work with an engineer, draftsperson, and builders to plan and design the porch, as well as collaborate with partner organizations, including Adirondack Center for Writing, Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce, Village of Saranac Lake, North Country Public Radio, Paul Smith's College VIC, and Traditional Arts in Upstate New York. Implementation of the Cure Porch on Wheels begins in 2018 with the building of the Porch. The Our Town grant will support the Cure Porch on Wheels programing hosted in partnership with the Village of Saranac Lake and other organizations in 2019. The grant will also support professional development workshops for local artisans. Historic Saranac Lake is committed to providing artistically excellent programming for the Cure Porch on Wheels. While the Our Town grant would be a welcome support for that endeavor, Historic Saranac Lake is not dependent on receiving this grant to accomplish their goal.
